Italian Christmas hampers

When unsure about a gift, maybe because it is intended for someone you are not particularly close to, the best idea is to go for something anyone would like. And who does not enjoy good food and great drinks?

Christmas hampers are getting very popular in the UK and they have been a classic gift idea in Italy for a long time. In fact, what is it that all Italians love? Their food! And if you gift that to someone, you can’t go wrong. Italian food is so simple and delicious that it is very hard to find someone who doesn’t actually like it even abroad.

Christmas hampers with Italian products are also brilliant presents for British people. They can be an occasion to discover something new, to enjoy an old time favourite or to try a niche product one would not normally buy for themselves. Every shop stocks them nowadays: if you want a ready-made one, just go and grab the one you like! Hampers can also be custom-made: choose the products you want and have it prepared by a shop assistant, or even make it yourself at home!

What products should be included in the perfect Italian Christmas hamper? Whatever you like and whatever you think the other person might enjoy receiving! Just for guidance, here are our suggestions for a five star hamper with an Italian theme:

  • A bottle of wine or prosecco
  • A bottle of Italian liquor (limoncello, amaretto, mirto, grappa..)
  • One or two packs of pasta (if possible choose original shapes and small producers)
  • Italian tomato sauce
  • Pesto
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Parmigiano Reggiano
  • A whole Italian salame
  • A pack of biscuits (maybe ricciarelli)
  • A panettone or pandoro

Can you think of anyone who would not love receiving this?
