Inghams Italy Advent- 6 dicembre
Sat Dec 2014
Verona is an enchanting city worth visiting during any time of the year. However, it becomes particularly beautiful in December when it is pervaded by a welcoming and joyful Christmas atmosphere.
The most stunning installation is the gigantic comet originating from the Verona Arena. From the 29th November to the 25th of January, the Arena will actually host an exhibition of nativity scenes, in Italian presepi, from all over the world.
Every year Verona also has one of the most interesting Christmas markets in Italy, which has a long and established tradition in this city. It is called Santa Lucia Christmas Market, being dedicated to St. Lucy, who is celebrated on the 13th of December and is a saint strongly linked with light.
The beautifully decorated wooden stalls are full of marvellous crafts that you can admire while sipping local mulled wine. The Santa Lucia Christmas Market will be open from the 21st of November to the 28th of December in the historical Verona city centre, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Last but not least: Verona is the city of pandoro: there is no better place to try this Italian sweet treat typical of the Christmas season!
