The four elements come together in this unique volcanic archipelago of 7 islands off the north east coast of Sicily. Vulcano is celebrated for its curative mud and hot springs and is a wonderful place for a restful few days. The energetic can climb up to the smoking crater or visit the fumaroles and black sand beaches. Lipari is the largest and most inhabited island and known as ‘the capital’. The pretty little town nestles around a bay under the castle and there are several beaches with crystal clear waters. Stromboli with its active volcano is visible from both islands and often provides a spectacular light show.
