Day 2 | This morning we have a guided tour of the highlights of Rome including the Imperial Forum and the Colosseum. In the afternoon we drive northwards to the region of Tuscia and check in to the Balletti Park Hotel, our home for 6 nights.

Day 3 | Just a short drive away is the small city of Viterbo which has one of Italy's most important medieval centres but that is little known to foreign tourists. We will enjoy a walking tour with a local guide to discover its treasures including the Papal Palace.
In the afternoon there is an optional visit to one of Viterbo's thermal springs to enjoy the hot, medicinal waters.

Day 4 | Tarquinia is one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in Italy for its incredible underground Etruscan tombs that have beautifully preserved wall paintings. We visit the site for a guided tour and there is also time in the town for an optional visit to the museum and for lunch.
In the afternoon we stop at Tuscania to see the 11th century church of San Pietro and for a wander around the pretty historical centre.

Day 5 | Today we visit Civita di Bagnoregio perched on a rocky outcrop and virtually cut off from the surrounding area. Bagnoregio is also known as the 'ghost town' as most of its inhabitants have moved away in recent years.
We then travel onwards to the little town of Bagnaia where we find the beautiful gardens of Villa Lante with its formal gardens of fountains, parterres and terraces.

Day 6Day at leisure to enjoy the hotel's pool and gardens and perhaps have a leisurely lunch.

Day 7This morning we visit the Villa Farnese at Caprarola, which is one of the most impressive villas of the Renaissance period and was built by the descendants of the Farnese Popes. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 8 | Transfer to Rome airport for your return flight to UK. Alternatively you can extend your stay in Rome if you prefer to carry on sightseeing.

Please note that the order of the itinerary may vary according the opening schedules of the villas and gardens to be visited.
